WorkSpace - The power of concentration

What's up guys

I share with you the productivity app concept that i've been working on, called WorkSpace. Let's check it out!

Overview

We are constantly battling distractions and procrastination when we try to work on the computer. The ease of access to social media, videos and news, combined with the multitasking nature of digital work, makes it difficult to maintain focus. Procrastination takes advantage of the multitude of options, diverting attention from important tasks and leading to a loss of time and productivity.

The WorkSpace app aims to eliminate these distractions and increase the productivity of its users.

Here users can:

πŸ“‹ Creating their task lists and organize it according to context, priority or deadline;

⏱ Working with total focus and eliminate distractions with the pomodoro timer;

πŸ“ˆ Monitoring their progress towards achieving their goals.

Understanding

Conducting a briefing is essential to ensure that all parties involved in the project are aligned. It serves as an initial guide, providing essential information such as relevant data, goals to be achieved, target audience, and timeline. By gathering this information, we avoid misunderstandings, optimise time, and increase the chances of the project's success.

Ideation

To structure the content and optimise its functionality before investing in visual design and development, I created this simplified visual representation of the interface.

By focusing on usability and the flow of information, we were able to identify and rectify navigation and layout issues, saving time and resources in the later stages of the project.

Information Architecture

Regarding the organisation of content and the navigation of the interface, the home screen provides an overview of the user's tasks (which are recorded manually) and a call-to-action to start working, directing the user to the task completion screen. In the navigation bar, the user can access the task list screens and the customisation screen for the Pomodoro timer. On the task list screen, it's possible to view tasks, mark them as completed, delete them, or create new ones.

On the other hand, we have the profile screen, where the user can see their productivity metrics and ongoing projects. Within each project, we have their respective tasks and their status.

Visual Design

The choice of colours, typography, icons, and other visual elements is crucial for building a strong brand identity and creating a positive user experience. Each of these elements plays a fundamental role, such as:

  • Conveying the values and personality of the brand;

  • Creating an emotional connection with the target audience;

  • Enhancing the usability and accessibility of products and services;

  • Making the user experience more enjoyable and memorable.

Measurements of Results and Next Steps

With this design, we enable control over our demands through a complete view of each one. The pomodoro technique ensures that we spend time actually working and not distracted by other things. As a next step, i'd implement something like notification blocking, to minimise distractions during the use of the tool.
