Advent Sermon Series: The Arrival 🕊️

THE ARRIVAL - the 2023 Advent Sermon Graphic for Veritas Church of Iowa City.

A topical 4-week series based on the traditional Advent values of love, joy, hope, and peace but with a twist - remembering the arrival of peace (and joy, and love, and hope...) through Jesus' first arrival in human flesh, but also looking forward to the complete peace, love, joy, and hope we will experience at his second arrival in heavenly glory as King!

I wanted the imagery to signal traditional Christmas nativity since the color palette was so non-traditional, but upon further contemplation, each symbol is also tied to the second advent as well. 👀

This was my first major attempt to mimic a risograph print and it was such a fun way to challenge my mind to think about ink mixing and transparency to create color (see the video of each layer - pink, yellow, and blue). Also, I was totally inspired by Blake Johnson's work - check him out, he is such a talented illustrator & designer!
