Vintage Receipt Designs

Recreating designs from the past is a great exercise in pushing myself to think about how we can make everyday mundane items beautiful. With more design technology developing over the years, it has been easy for design teams (hi, it's me!) to slip into designing faster, and with that comes the cost of less beauty and detail for everyday life graphics.

Here is another self-imposed design challenge that involves one of my favorite types of graphics: forms! I researched and designed these automobile receipts spanning from 1920 to 1980. You’ll see that paper sizes shifted across the years, and the later decades started to become, in my opinion, a little less fancy.

Can't you just smell the old coffee and grease coming out of these receipts?
