Travelling - Making travel planning easier

What's up guys

I share with you the travel app concept that i've been working on, called Travelling. Let's check it out!

Overview

Planning a trip with multiple destinations can be challenging due to the need to coordinate various logistical aspects. Time optimisation is crucial to make the most of each stop, and flexibility is essential to handle any unforeseen circumstances that may arise along the way.

Travelling app seeks to simplify this process, and make travel planning something simple and dynamic.

Here users can:

📄 Planning their travels in a simple and dynamic way;

🌏 Exploring travel destinations according to the countries they are going to travel to;

🗺 Viewing all information about the travel in one place.

Understanding

Conducting a briefing is essential to ensure that all parties involved in the project are aligned. It serves as an initial guide, providing essential information such as relevant data, goals to be achieved, target audience, and timeline. By gathering this information, we avoid misunderstandings, optimise time, and increase the chances of the project's success.

Analysing the information obtained regarding the requested functionalities, we see that building them all at once would require many resources. Therefore, in order to achieve the best possible outcome without expending too many resources, we have chosen to develop the most essential features first and defer the implementation of the rest.

Ideation

To structure the content and optimise its functionality before investing in visual design and development, I created this simplified visual representation of the interface.

By focusing on usability and the flow of information, we were able to identify and rectify navigation and layout issues, saving time and resources in the later stages of the project.

Information Architecture

The navigation flow is divided into two distinct yet related phases: the first is the definition of primary information, and the second is the selection of destinations, culminating in the creation of a plan.

In the first phase, the user defines their stay and the countries they will visit, then they move on to the second phase, where they will have options for destinations to visit based on the countries selected in the previous phase. By selecting the destinations, they will have all this information compiled in one place.

Visual Design

The choice of colours, typography, icons, and other visual elements is crucial for building a strong brand identity and creating a positive user experience. Each of these elements plays a fundamental role, such as:

  • Conveying the values and personality of the brand;

  • Creating an emotional connection with the target audience;

  • Enhancing the usability and accessibility of products and services;

  • Making the user experience more enjoyable and memorable.

Measurements of Results

With this design, we can provide travellers with a clear step-by-step guide to help them plan their trips more efficiently, saving time to focus on logistical and more bureaucratic matters. Additionally, we give them an understanding of what the experience will be like at each destination, what to expect, and how to behave in each of them.

With this, we can say that the main objective of the project was achieved. 👽

Next Steps

In this first Sprint, the focus was on displaying destinations in a personalised manner, which was essential for the product. However, equally fundamental is the creation of the itinerary, and that would be my next step. In this project, I managed to somewhat introduce it, but it is a feature that needs to be implemented in a more refined way, thus always providing the best.
