Lake Cross Engraving
As promised, here is a photo of the finished piece. It turned out much better than I thought it would, even though my staining talents are less than stellar.
The artwork was laser engraved on a specialty laminated birch hardwood panel by Matt Kennedy. Without the frame, it measures 17"x9" and with the frame, 19.625" x 11.625". The frame is hand-constructed from solid oak, wooden dowels, and secured by a plywood backing. It has been stained and finished with polyurethane to ensure longevity even though it will be displayed indoors.
Next weekend, the piece will be sold at a private art auction benefiting Kanuga, so these images are all that I have to remember it by. However, this is probably not my last adventure in laser engraving—I'm having way too much fun.
