Recently, I came to the new local juice bar. There I observed a lot of problems and mostly the problem was because of the lack of a system. From there I got an idea to make a POS systems.

User Roles

So I divided the POS Systems into 3 roles :

• The Cashiers -> The one who gets the payment

• The Waitress -> The one who delivers the customer to their table, the one who inputs the customer order, and the one who delivers the food

• The Kitchen -> The one who proceeded or relied on the order, the one who checked the ingredients, and the one who checked the order before it served.

The Roles can be varied depending on the size of the restaurants/cafes.

For this post I will focus on the Waitress Roles

User Flows

The main user flows for waitress roles:

• The New Customer - Take Away - Menu - Confirmation

• The New Customer - Dine In - Table Seat - Menu - Confirmation

New Customer

The first step is to input the new customer, It can be take away/delivery or dine-in. It will determine the table number or the seating. New Customer menu can be access from any pages.

Table Seat

If the waitress chooses the Dine-In they will go to this page. Here the waitress can add the number of people that come, and the table seating. The table seating is the same as the layout of the restaurant, including the number of seats. The grey one means it's unavailable.

Menu

So here's the main menu. It is divided into 3 areas:

• The side navigation menu

• The food menu

  • The Waitress can choose the food categories on the upper menu (it can slide horizontally), and choose the food menu below (it can slide vertically). The waitress can add the amount and the notes here. The grey button or dark menu indicates it's unavailable.

• The summary of the order

  • The summary has a function to remind the waitress and the customers about the food they order. In these sections, the order still can be edited.

Confirmation

One example of good experience that can tell you what's the error and the confirmation. I add some confirmation that can tell the waitress that the order has been processed which indicates the finish line of the order flows. I added some features the estimated times, so the waitress can tell the customer how long they will wait for their food.
