The story of Jing Ke's assassination attempt on Qin's King Ying Zheng during the Warring States period involves the assassin Jing Ke being sent by Crown Prince Dan of Yan to deliver a map of Yan's territory and the head of Fan Yuqi to the Qin court. Jing Ke's mission was to assassinate King Ying Zheng. However, when presenting the map, he attempted to assassinate the king but failed, leading to his capture and execution.
The story of Jing Ke's attempt to assassinate King Ying Zheng exemplifies the heroism of standing up against tyranny and sacrificing one's life for justice, which is what our group aims to showcase.
In our modern art installation, we use small balls of different colors to represent various characters, for instance, the Qin state is symbolized by black balls representing King Ying Zheng. The movement of these balls within the installation helps recreate the classic scenes and plot points of the story, narrating this poignant historical tale.
We have divided the story into five segments, each represented by a distinct scene in the installation. These scenes are arranged in a staggered, tiered formation from top to bottom, creating a sense of dynamic movement and guiding the viewer's gaze.
