Sub navigation for watch industry mobile app
Hey Dribbblerzz! π
Some time ago, I designed a mobile app for the watch industry. β
We had many pages and features, and one of these pages displayed a list of watches, including those currently available and those scheduled for future release. I needed a solution that would facilitate seamless navigation between these views within the same context.
When confronted with complex navigation and a multitude of app pages, organizing them effectively can be challenging. π€―
I wanted to avoid having two separate pages and instead opted to incorporate a picker to facilitate switching between sections. While I had frequently seen it positioned at the top, I considered switching between these two sections a popular action and decided to move it to the bottom of the screen.
I contemplated placing it adjacent to the bottom bar, given that we already had two lines of menu items there. However, during the development phase, we conducted several usability testing sessions, and none of the participants encountered any issues with this navigation approach.
I'm still not entirely sure what to call this component β picker, tabs, sub-nav, segmented control β but I was absolutely sure that it functioned effectively and greatly enhanced the user experience. ππ
