CITTÀ Magazine — La Ciudad Imperial de Nova Mexico

CITTÀ is a creative magazine that parallels Montreal with other cities throughout the world on subjects such as art, architecture, design and creativity at large.

For their Montreal/Mexico edition, they gave me an incredible task: to craft a series of posters capturing Mexico City's vibrant history, at three different periods of time—during the Aztecs (Tenochtitlan), the Spanish conquistadors (Nova Mexico) and nowadays (Distrito Federal).

Here's the second poster, spotlighting the Imperial City of Nova Mexico. Creating this print was easier than the first one. I used actual maps and then abstracted them to build complexity and reference the city's history. Still loving how much experimenting went into it. It came out nice.
