2.Challenges

A former panel was already developed by the tech team using kits in order to get a grip on the project as they were finishing back-end; but the business team had much more expectation from it so I was introduced to the panel.

Former one had no specific design to it and was only a technical solution, it had no relativity to brand’s identity; there wasn’t a specific design in regards to mobile users and Information architecture had some issues to it and could not address business new needs. Some sections like tables were complicated and not properly ordered, it also lacked visual elements for a better eye-scan.

As these kinds of panels can have a lot of graphs and data, there was a need for users to be able to use more space on their screens.

Business team had some new needs such as the platform to have a more social-media vibe to it including posting and functionalities like comment and like, some gamification visuals to accompany business team plans, a feature for token acquisition and a more versatile design for user to manage and supervise their accounts; and at last owner required a feature for users to view latest posts in community and latest trades at all time.

Due to lack of resources and funds, explicit UX researches were not achievable; and time periods were also short because of product owner time table of delivery.

3.Process and Solution

Firstly, I analyzed the current structure of the interface to get a grip on the general idea and worked with it to understand it current flows and features; after that i conducted a meeting with the project owner to familiarize myself with platform user flows and features furthermore, and to understand their new needs; listing these requirements and notes i went into research mode.

While studying some competitors in the same field, I did user testing on 6 users on the current panel to study their behavior and pain points.

Sharing these with the owner I got confirmation on them and moved on to drawing wireframes; as I had less space on the mobile view I decided to have a mobile first approach.

After 2 meetings with the owner and some revise in the wireframes, they got approved by the owner so I resumed the interface design phase. For the panel to be more in sync with the website I used the Material 3 design system that I have already customized for the website; some exclusive components were also introduced to meet some specific needs as well.

Collapsible Sidebar and Side-peek

For users to be able to use more space on their desktop view i made the sidebar into two versions: mini view and expanded view for users to be able to explore the latest trades and posts at all times, I came up with a “Side peek” feature with an infinity scroll that could be minimized or expanded as well.

Social Media Oriented

In regards to social media I decided to make a specific section for posts in the Tribe where users can explore posts in an “infinity scroll” manner.

For better navigation posts are categorized into specific subjects within community guidelines, so suggestion chips were used to categorize posts

Gamification and Token Acquisition

In Regards to gamification specification, the business team has already conducted UX plans for it for users to level up based on some actions in the panel and get rewards for them; to integrate these in the panel i included a box in the side panel that would show users their level and progress and this box would also act as way for users to get to their profile section as well Token acquisition, which was later introduced to the project required to be shown to users at all time, so a box was introduced in the header of all pages showing users current balance and a CTA for users to start buying flow.

Integrating with exchanges and making Sub-accounts

In this panel users will have accounts linked to their binance or kuCoin accounts, then they can make sub-accounts in these wallets that would copy other users trading behavior; a more versatile and well-architected design was introduced to this section so that users can supervise them in a more Hierarchy fashion; at the next level users need to view some stats and graphs, this section had huge data to them so “Expandable lists” were introduced to lessen visual clusters.

4.Results

The final UI was finished and with prototyping i could run some usability tests on the old test participants and some new ones, overall 12 users participated; Some pain points were mentioned in the account managing section and data architecture, after correcting them, the final designs were introduced to the Product owner.

More Tests and KPI setting should be considered in order to better the results, though limited resources and funds is a problem on that end A document was produced for hand-off purposes and online meetings were conducted for tech team to get in sync with my designs; the project development is on its way
