Gig Poster: Chicago Handshake

Collage is one of my favorite ways to design posters, and it's been a good while since I've done one. The world is wild, and we're still partying.

Here I pulled disparate images from the Library of Congress public domain collection and went to town. I used City of Chicago colors to refer back to the band name and the location of the gig, and used a gothic blackletter typeface ("Spoke") to align with the "historical" nature of the subjects. Finally, I used the geometrical background pattern to further emphasize the otherworldliness of the composition.
