LiveXP iOS Demo App
At Iter8 we've been hard at work on a demo app for LiveXP event analytics. This app presents users with a schedule and location of performances at a music festival. It also takes advantage of iBeacon to send targeted marketing to users.
The app icon mutes value contrast in favor of hue contrast. It re-maps the intensity normally conveyed by variance among tints and shades to variance among hues. This alludes to the color schemes of heat maps and thermographs, and it befits the flames ensconcing the speaker cone.
Additionally, the speaker cone is deliberately left un-textured. By opting for a stylistic rather than literal interpretation of a speaker cone, it functions as an empty vessel, accruing meaning over time as LiveXP grows, without limiting the brand to its origins in the music festival scene.
I've also uploaded a process video of how I came up with the shapes for this icon. Before I start any vector drawing, I finalize the shapes that I'm going to use in procreate. This lets me solve the composition before I actually figure out the optimal placement of the vector points.
I'd love feedback on the rationale, process, and execution of this icon!
