The Challenge

Google Assistant needed a set of illustrations to educate the user on how to get the most out of Assistant automation features within Routines and will help set proper expectations for what the Assistant will do.

My Role

In this project I had the chance to create educational illustrations about the process of new routines in Assistant. I worked with another illustrator and had the opportunity to do art direction.

Process

My project began with the challenge of creating educational illustrations to assist users of Google Assistant in managing their routines. The goal was to provide alerts when routines were not properly created.

To start, I sketched out ideas using pencil to determine the best concept for each routine. I presented at least three options per routine, and once a concept was selected, I applied color combinations and placed the illustration in context with the actual UI.

Finally, I exported the final designs in 1x, 2x, and 4x sizes.I am extremely pleased with the outcome of this project. The style was new for me, incorporating flat elements and a powerful color palette. Additionally, I had the opportunity to lead another illustrator and we were able to meet our timelines successfully.
