Shark Week 2023, We Love Shark Week

For this project, I decided to go physical and not just digital! I had a concept that I wanted to layer resin and different woods together to create a 'shark portrait' of different species of sharks, while also referencing shark week. This was for Woodcraft's social media platforms, hence the woodworking aspect of it. This project was achieved my pouring two layers of colored resin, then pieces of wood were cut out on the scroll saw and then glued together (each shark has two layers), then the details (teeth, eyes, and gills) were drawn on using a pyrography wood burning pen. The letters I cut with an exacto knife out of veneer. Once the resin was cured, we then glued the sharks and the letters down to the resin itself, then poured a layer of clear resin over it. Once that was cured, we removed it from the mold, gave it a trim, and built a frame! Voila!
