Quickie no1.

I fancied a quickie. Bringing out the Posca for a reel speedy slog.

Whenever I need to give the brain worms a good arse kicking, I go to these little exercises - Creating drawings based on random splotches of colour really gets the creative juices flowing.

The ideas come spontaneously and I generally have no idea what I’m going to draw until the pen touches the paper. I liken it to finding faces in wallpaper patterns.

Because of the whole camera set up, using my phone to film, setting the lighting etc, I can’t really leave the piece until it’s done; and so I’m forced to smash it out from start to finish.

Using pen instead of pencil (with no plan or guide) means my brush strokes are eternal and each one matters and I must stick with whatever I’ve put down! There’ll be some mistakes or things I look back on and might want to have changed, but that’s all part of the process. Each one is unique and if I’d started it seconds earlier or later it probably wouldn’t have come out the way it did.

I LOVE making these. I hope you enjoy my brain splurges!
