Love Live Local Website Design
I guided this non-profit organization through the planning, research, design, and execution of a new online presence.
Discovery + User Experience Design
This organization had outgrown its existing website and needed a more robust platform to better reach its audience and deliver on its mission.
The client provided a list of what they wanted in a new website, but I wanted to make sure we also met their users' needs. To address this, I conducted user interviews and reviewed their analytics data. These valuable insights provided a clearer path for the rest of the project and informed our design direction.
The research indicated that their website visitors had difficulty finding key information, so we optimized the new sitemap around these key user journeys.
Additionally, this website had a wide variety of information, from news articles to events. During this phase, we mapped out the content model and how they would relate to each other. These documents guided the visual design process as well as the Content Management System development.
Visual Design
Love Live Local had a strong brand presence in print and social that served as a guide during the design phase. I wanted to ensure consistency with their other channels–but also leverage unique capabilities afforded by digital interfaces, such as transitions and animations.
Working in Figma, I built a flexible component library. I then designed page templates with multiple breakpoints to ensure the design worked well across a range of devices and experiences.
Using Figma's prototyping feature, I conducted additional moderated user testing to validate our assumptions and design direction.
Development
Editing content on their previous website was a major pain point for this client, so a key goal was to deliver a much more user-friendly authoring experience.
I worked closely with the development team as they converted the Figma design files into front-end code. I then provided guidance as they implemented the backend content Management system in Craft CMS.
