Disrupting Rhetoric Project //

"BAGS" Shopping Pamphlet - c. Fall 2022

Medium: Illustrator

About this piece...

Prompt: Choose a designed artifact and study its visual and verbal rhetoric. Then respond to it in a way that disrupts, challenges, or reshapes that rhetoric.

Created in: ART.3631 Processes and Materials for Graphic Design at University of Tennessee - Chattanooga.

My notes: Disrupting the rhetoric of a designed artifact was challenging! I chose a reusable bag that closes. While it is reusable in its nature, I disrupted its rhetoric by pointing out how cheap so many bags we buy are since most of us are trying to save money, and how in reality they break after a pretty minimal amount of uses. So I created a mail pamphlet that makes fun of the fast fashion industry and myself for buying the cheap stuff.
