Heinz United States of Saucemerica Packets

Summer is officially here and we’re thrilled to share an awesome project we’ve been starving to unveil! We had the pleasure of working with the Heinz team at Wieden+Kennedy to illustrate a super fun series of limited edition Heinz sauce packets, representing all fifty states and some of their most iconic foods (along with the proper application of corresponding condiments). The illustrations range from classics like a California burger and fries on an original Heinz ketchup packet, to more regional specialties like a Maine lobster roll on a mayo packet. The project also included creating the campaign logo for The United States of Saucemerica, incorporating the iconic Heinz keystone.

We love creating illustration series so this project was a fun challenge to represent so many different types of cuisine in varying environments, all while keeping the style big and bold enough to work at small, sauce packet scale. The limited color palettes of each packet also helped to solidify the bright and colorful look of each packet. Each packet illustration also includes at least one easter egg in the form of a regional landmark, activity, or tradition so keep your eyes peeled for your local favorites.

The Heinz Saucemerica packets are available at restaurants across the country all summer long, and there’s even a chance to win prizes by collecting and photographing the packets you find.
