Cal's Restaurant Case Study Designs

For this case study, I was tasked with designing the app for a modern restaurant. The focus was users in a multicultural area, who wanted an accessibility friendly app that allowed them to save time ordering food.

Style Guide

I wanted to incorporate a Mediterranean style with minimalistic colors to give the design a comforting, yet elegant feel to the design.

Once I had settled on my color palette, I created a pattern in Illustrator and then made a simple logo that matched the typography and color scheme.

Lo-Fi Prototypes

When designing the prototype, I kept things simple and made sure to have the most important buttons larger with clearly labeled text. I wanted more images and less text so that ESL speakers could still navigate the app.

Hi-Fi Prototypes

At this stage, I added a page specifically for accessibility, which includes a translate option that would allow the app to connect and use Google Translate as you would on a computer.

I also kept in mind color choices, opting to use more high contrast colors and outline buttons for maximum visibility.
