Spin Me a Yarn Book Box

Spin Me a Yarn, is a monthly children’s book subscription box. This service teaches kids about different countries around the world through the use of storytelling. Each month, subscribers receive a book that features myths and legends from a new country of the world.

When considering the company’s branding, there were three key takeaways I wanted to include. The logo and color pallet needed to be bright, approachable, and kid-friendly. The main mark of the company is a combination of the brand mascot with the name “Spin Me a Yarn.” This name refers to the idiom, “spin me a yarn,” which means to tell a long, colorful, and imaginative tale. Hand-lettered to add to the approachability and tactile nature of the brand, the main mark is designed to encourage kids to pick up the books or boxes. By connecting some of the letters of the word-mark, the visuals become indicative of yarn and reinforce the name.

To maximize engagement, I chose a mascot that would be approachable, relatable, and fun to journey with through stories each month. Tripp the Cat is the perfect voice for the job. Not only is Tripp the main part of the branding for the Spin Me a Yarn Company, but he also is the narrator for each of the stories in the monthly books. Because he is a cat rather than a human, he is more easily relatable to diverse audiences; Kids can connect with Tripp as he takes them on new monthly adventures

Spin Me a Yarn Website

The website for the brand takes users through the subscription options, displays reviews, shows how the service works, and has a place to sign up for the newsletter.
