Macbook render in Fusion 360
Back at university, I learnt to model in SolidWorks but never used it again once I left. I've always wanted to pick it up again, however, the eye watering price rules that out (this is not for income generating work).
I came across Fusion 360 on the weekend though. They have a free trial but it looks like you can use it for no fee for certain personal use. I had a play with it over the weekend and mocked up part of the gold macbook. Really enjoyed it.
I particularly like how the highest quality rendering initially produces something like a pointillist painting as it iterates. Letting it run for a good while produces a clean render, but stopping it after only a few passes gives a certain graininess, a kind of film-noir look, which I really like.
