Editorial Illustration - Spring Ice Cream

Our city for the last few days experiencing a hot and humid temperature between 32° to 36° Celcius (89° to 96° Fahrenheit) and people around the city needs something refreshing to re-energize and what's more refreshing than fruit flavored ice cream during the hot sunny day.

This illustration is our attempt to show potential client about what kind of illustration that we can offer for their company.

The original idea was to create an illustration where a young girl licking an ice cream cone with orange flavor and her taste bud exploded which bring her minds go wild and entering the imaginary world that showing all the ice cream flavor elements.

Here is our first sketch attempt for that brief:

Even though we like the sketch above very much, it has some issue because it highlight the imaginary world too much and forget that the star of the illustration should be the ice cream and the persona that will enjoy it. We need to make the star stand out for the viewer, so we made some adjustment to the sketch as shown below:

We make the star of the illustration more stand out as shown at the above, but now, the imaginary world scenery looks oppressed, and because of that, we are doing more adjustment to the sketch:

Now, this is more like it. However, it still not perfect, we think we can do better to improve the flavored imaginary world theme, so we eliminate some of the unnecessary elements and replace it with more item elements related to the flavor:

Our next step is doing the line art and put some basic coloring to the illustration. Choosing a color for an illustration can be tricky, but since we are professional, we are able to easily do this in a short amount of time.

Oh Boy, after finish coloring it, we are craving to get some ice cream. But we are not done yet, it's time to put some final touch to make it perfect:
