A Day at the Races
Using three different abstract reference backgrounds, I prompted Midjourney in several ways for a selection of images relating to horse racing. I wanted a similar theme, but with subtle difference in the series. The backgrounds were to emphasise movement and excitement. I also wanted a thick and bold selection of colours to draw in the eye.
The reference images are at the bottom.
The images with horses are very much related to racing. The images with people are more abstract, as they are spectators. But some racing events are about dressing up and being a part of the scene, so I still wanted to bring out an element of this within the selection of pictures.
Below are the reference background images used to shape and theme the images.
First, a pastel watercolour background that I used for another series gives a lightness to proceedings.
Next, red and yellow horizontal lines of different thicknesses, helping movement in a particular direction. The darker aspect suggests some speed too.
Finally, a more random splatter of excitement and playful randomness.
Blending these together hopefully gives the racing images power and drive, while also retaining shape and consistency for a satisfying and pleasing set of pictures.
