NFT Marketplace

Project Overview

This project aimed at creating a unique visual identity and design language for a new NFT marketplace app. The project includes researching and benchmarking the existing NFT market application designs, creating mood boards, and designing a fully functional high-fidelity prototype with a UI library. The target audience is tech-savvy individuals passionate about NFTs and digital artwork who value visually aesthetic and curated experiences. As a UI designer, my responsibility is to fashion the app's visual language and design and ensure its adaptability across multiple screens.

Moodboards

I had two ideas in mind: a stylish, dark mode app, and a simple and clean app. I organized the two moodboards and used them to build the concepts for the Splash and Home Screens. Also, I created a color scheme, chose fonts, and played with iconography.

Visual exploration

Given the primary objective of the application to encourage users to buy NFT artwork, the user interface concepts were deliberately crafted to be less conspicuous than the artworks, which are often characterized by a diverse range of colors and styles.

Upon careful consideration, it was determined that the initial concept not only gained more traction but was also better suited for the NFT marketplace app since users of this application will probably spend some time consideration, thus being less saturated will be easier on their eyes. Consequently, a darker theme was selected and further refined for the app's design.

Lock & Scale design

Based on the wireframes provided, I proceeded to develop Search Results, Profile, and NFT screens.

UI library

The UI elements were thoughtfully designed with an emphasis on simplicity, user-friendliness, and minimal color variations.

Takeaways and next steps

For a number of years, I had been away from creating new designs in an unconstrained environment. As I had not undergone any formal training in design, this course proved invaluable in imparting objective techniques and streamlining the process of UI design. Going forward, I aspire to enhance my proficiency in UI and UX design, which currently serves as my profession.
