Bovine Barista (name TBD)

For my New Arcade class at NYU, our midterm is to create an arcade style game with an alternative controller. I'm currently still working on this project.

My concept is to have a physical rubber cow udder arcade game controller. The player squeezes udder teats to add frothy foam to café lattes in a Rhythm Heaven Fever-inspired rhythm game.

Here's my top two inspirations for this project:

The Controller

First decision was to figure out the form factor and the desired user experience. Is the player the cow? Is the player a milk maid?

For the player to be a cow, I was envisioning the udder strapped onto a harness that the player could put on. That would imply we would need a screen at an angle for the user to point the udder to.

I also considered a more traditional route of a mounted udder. The udder then would be put facing down on a little cow statue (or without a cow statue and on an espresso machine).

Decided to make a countertop mini cow that acts as an espresso machine. Was thinking of having the screen under the udder.

Game Graphics

Next is to emulate the style of Rhythm Heaven Fever, which is very bold colors with thick black outlines.

I'm still not sure whether I want the udder to be seen in the game. If the cups are below the physical udder, then it might be redundant.

For fun, I was also working on a little Starbucks-like logo for the cow.
