La Llorona

A beautiful woman drowns her children in order to be with the man that she loves. Rejected, she drowns herself but is forced to wander the Earth for all eternity, searching in vain for her drowned childern, with her constant weeping giving her the name “La Llorona.” She is said to haunt rivers and streams crying, “Mis hijos! (My children!)”
