VR in Sports

The use of virtual reality (VR) technology in sports has become increasingly popular in recent years. This application motivates users to continue exercising in boring environments by transporting them into a fantasy-based-environment, where they move in unconventional ways. The environment is designed to be visually stimulating and engaging, with vibrant colors, unique textures, and fantastical elements.

Many current VR home trainer cycling applications emulate an environment in VR that appears as realistic as possible. The handling and movement are also realistic, defined and limited by the rules of the natural environment. The endless possibilities of VR are not taken advantage of.

In the beginning, players can choose from a set of predetermined routes. They have to follow this route from start to finish to understand the player mechanics and their environment. After crossing the finish line a time is determined.

Players can then deviate from the predetermined route and move however they want from the start line to the finish line. If a player wants to cycle through a lake, as a shortcut, they can. If a player wants to cycle in the clouds, they can. The natural rules don't apply. Anything is allowed to beat the original time. The user can move around freely and interact with various elements.

There is also a competitive mode. The application allows users to connect with other users and compete against each other. The same principles apply. The goal is simple; to get to the finish line first. It doesn't matter how you get to the finish line, just that you get there first.
