Cover for a song Kingdom of Welcome Addiction by IAMX

The aim of this project was to create a single cover and a CD booklet for a song Kingdom of Welcome Addiction by IAMX. I also created a poster and images for social media that are meant to promote the song. The main theme of this song is addiction and attempts to cope with it. Therefore, the main idea of the project was to show two sides of one character: the one who is addicted and doesn’t want or isn’t able to do anything about it, and the one that tries to get rid of the addiction, despite this terrifying process.

Miałam na celu stworzyć okładkę oraz książeczkę do utworu IAMX - Kingdom of Welcome Addiction. W ramach projektu również powstał plakat oraz grafiki na social media, które są przeznaczone do promowania utworu. Głównym tematem tej piosenki jest uzależnienie oraz próby zwolnienia się z tego stanu. Dlatego głównym założeniem projektowym było pokazanie dwóch stron jednej postaci: ta, która jest uzależniona i nie chce lub nie jest w stanie nic z tym zrobić oraz ta, która podejmuje próbę pozbyć się uzależnienia, chociaż jest przerażona, bo to nie jest łatwe.

Minimalism was one of the most important aesthetic assumptions in my project. I think that this style fits both my idea - to show two sides of one character and the style that IAMX usually chooses for their covers. I also wanted to match their usual color palette. IAMX covers are dominated by black, white, gray, red, and yellow hues. For this reason, I chose black as the base and background, and red and yellow as the colors for certain elements and accents.

I took all the pictures for the project and then edited them in Adobe Photoshop.

Minimalizm był jednym z najważniejszych założeń estetycznych w moim projekcie. Uważam, że taki styl pasuje zarówno do mojego pomysłu - pokazanie dwóch stron jednej postaci, jak i do stylu, który dany wykonawca zazwyczaj wybiera dla swoich okładek. Do jego stylu też chciałam dopasować się kolorystycznie. Na okładkach IAMX dominują czarne, białe, szare, czerwone oraz żółte odcienie. Z tego powodu dla mojej realizacji wybrałam czarny kolor jako podstawę i tło oraz czerwony i żółty jako kolory dla poszczególnych elementów i akcentów.

Wszystkie zdjęcia do projektu wykonałam samodzielnie, a następnie obrobiłam je w Adobe Photoshop.
