Currency pair trading dashboard UI concept

Task

The challenge was to develop a high-level concept for a desktop web application where the user can trade currency pairs (Forex trading), e.g. USD/CHF, GBP/EUR (10 currency pairs). My goal was to create a simple logical flow and intuitive to navigate dashboard with a clear visual hierarchy, which allows users to perform desired actions (e.g. create a new order, cancel an order) with just a few clicks.

The Trading view is the main view and provides single-screen view of the data that user monitors. The user is able to see current exchange rates of supported currency pairs, see the list of orders which are in the system, create new order and cancel an order. In the Performance area the user can change the type of the chart (e.g. line, candlestick), compare performance of the active CP, change the date range/granularity of the chart).

Customization

One of my main goals was to provide the users with enough flexibility. Therefore another area I explored was the Settings where the user can:

- change the theme from Dark to Light mode,

- select which currency pairs should be displayed as shortcuts in the header (dropdown with multi select),

- define which widgets will be displayed in the trading view. One of the possible improvements could be to go one step further and allow users to customize the layout of the platform even more and provide several views: main, vertical, horizontal, fullscreen etc.

Other areas I explored were comparing the performance of currency pairs and different views in the performance area (e.g. table, graph view.), alerts, help section etc.
