Wagon App
Overview
Wagon App is a dog walking app that focuses on searching for verified dog walkers. This project was part of Dribbble's Product Design Course.
Wagon app allows for a seamless search to find a dog walker and easy access for communication.
Problem
Busy dog owners need consistent walking schedules for their dogs, but it's hard to trust a stranger to walk their dogs.
User Research
Trust was a main concern for dog owners as they navigate different options for their dogs to be walked. In-person conversations were the primary format for interviews.
Overall dog owners seem to hesitant to have their dog taken care of by someone else, but they prefer meeting the walkers before committing to a session. Also, having flexibility in walker's schedule was a priority in conducting a search for walkers.
Market Research
Rover and Wag! are two of the most popular dog walking apps in the marketplace. Rover provides a simple flow regarding their services and searching for carers. Whereas Wag! offers more features for pet owners. For Wagon, I wanted a more user friendly app that embodies Rover.
User Flow
I wanted the user to have the option to freely explore the app without having to sign in. Also, allowing the user the option to meet the walker in person before booking. This gives the dog owners a transparent booking system.
Wireframing
From the second iteration, I focused on building trust and credibility with the dog owners. I chose to add reviews and ratings for the dog walkers' cards to indicate how successful their walking sessions have been.
Visual Designs
Wagon app should elicit simple and modern take on dog walking apps. I wanted to show clean visuals that attribute trust. With these screens I envisioned a busy dog owner going through his flow hassle free and finding the perfect match with their dog walkers.
Prototype + Test
Finding walkers for all the used cases such as new users and recurring users was the main takeaway while testing the prototype. Also, having screens that gives the user a better visual of what they booked and easier access to book. I added these two screens to enhance the user experience.
Design System
Summary
Looking back on this process has been a great learning experience. I do think Wagon can improve with the ongoing feedback that I am receiving. Some of the improvements I would implement:
Flushing out a notification systems between dog walkers and dog owner allowing for instant updates, minimize gaps of communication
Any edge cases if bookings do not go as planned, how can each party cancel a sessions?
What visuals can enhance the idea of trust within the Wagon app?
What are other features that can be added regards dog walker searches?
