Rai Dog / Dog Walking App

*The following case study was done to meet Dribbble's Product Design Course requirements.

The problem

Across most urban and suburban areas, many people are looking for someone to walk or babysit their dogs when they're not home.ย However, there's a lack of confidence when giving the dog to a stranger.

There are other factors to consider, including dog walker cost, reliability, and safety/security issues.ย

๐Ÿ† Our goal is to help pet owners find people they can trust; just around the corner.

Product Design

๐Ÿ’ป I was involved in the entire design process of the product, taking direction on the business goals and objectives from product management.ย Including brainstorming, research, UX,ย UI, prototyping and testing.

๐Ÿ“ Main Tasks

1. Research

2. User Flow

3. Wireframes

4. Visual Design

5. Scaling Design

8. Prototyping & Testing

User Research

๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿ”ฌ I conducted a series of guided interviews with the primary goal of detecting people's preferences, thoughts, feelings and pain points.

๐Ÿ™ Understand a user's needs

๐Ÿ† Understand a user's goals

๐Ÿ˜ซ Understand a user's pain points

๐Ÿ” This was an excellent opportunity to meet potential users and know their demands before designing for them.

User Persona

Santiago is an archetypical user whose goals and characteristics represent the needs of a larger group of users.

He is a 31-year-old Project Manager for an SME company. He works just a couple of blocks from his home and spends a lot of time walking Ramon, his dog, every morning, during mid-day and late afternoons. He has a pretty active social life and is super sporty.

Goals and Ambitions

โœ…ย Find someone he can trust.

โœ… He wants to feel like the dog walker takes care of the dog just as he does.

Frustrations

โŒ He hates when dog walkers are not empathetic with the dog.

โŒ Hard to find trustworthy people.

โŒ Asking his friends for favours

โŒ Seeing big groups of dogs walking tight.

User Flow

๐Ÿ‘ฃ Our user flow was designed to be pretty much straight forwarded. Focused on the search as the entry point, the user details the service they're after, their location, the dates and the dog details so that Rai Dog matches him/her with the best options in the neighbourhood.

Wireframes

Our goal is to show the best options in the hood! So, we prioritized featuring the dog walker's characteristics so that the dog owner quickly understands which profile matches their needs.

Prototypes

In this experimental process,ย we created a testable prototype so that we can get actual user feedback.

๐Ÿค– We got as close to the real thing as possible.

Testing

๐Ÿ‘€ We focused on speeding up the process of hiring a dog walker.

Things we learnt during the tests

๐Ÿ“ If participants were able to complete specified tasks successfully

๐Ÿ“ Identified how long it takes to complete specified tasks

๐Ÿ“ Found out how satisfied participants are with our product

๐Ÿ“ Identified the changes required to improve user performance and satisfaction

๐Ÿ“ Analyzed the performance to see if it meets your usability objectives

๐Ÿ“ Checked if the product meets the userโ€™s expectations

๐Ÿ“ Saw if the product matches business decisions to real-world use

๐Ÿ“ Gathered user reactions and feedback about the product
