The Hendrix Experiments • Exp/3 • Woodstock, 1969

On August 18th 1969, Jimi Hendrix walked on stage at the Woodstock Music and Art Fair, New York. He stepped in at the last moment to play the closing performance in the morning, rather than at midnight.

Hendrix played through some of his classic catalogue including: Red House, Foxy Lady, Voodoo Child (Slight return), Purple Haze, Hey Joe, and a rendition of Star-Spangled Banner (the American national anthem).

The goal of this visual experiment was to explore this iconic performance, playing with photography, typography, and colour in a modern design context; exploring aesthetics and layout, across a landscape of concept collateral.

Experiments like this are of course limited, as you're not solving a real design brief. I see them as an opportunity to explore aesthetic ideas unconstrained and gently research a topic I find interesting.
