FlipX - UI/UX design for a real estate investing platform
Have you ever done a project for a startup with no competitors? This is the rare occasion when there are no templates of functionality or platform design; indeed, there’s nothing like it, so you have to build it from scratch.
Client
FlipX is a startup with an innovative approach to buying, selling, and renovating real estate in the U.S. market.
Their main product is the end-to-end real estate platform that helps new and experienced investors buy, renovate and sell single-family homes seamlessly from any location.
Task challenge
The original startup concept was quite promising. Such platforms, however, tend to be complicated. Users don’t want complexity; they need something simple and easy-to-use. It took both us and the client a lot of preparatory work to achieve it. It’s a comprehensive project that happens step by step and is still in development.
Our primary tasks were as follows:
Modernizing and updating the brand identity.
Developing the user flow for two user personas (Admin & Customer).
Based on the user flow, designing all the necessary screens for the two personas.
Thinking through the logic of the web app and the various aspects of implementing integrations.
Designing and developing a landing page for investment attraction.

User flow as a starting point
In the early stages of the project, we already know that our team should pay more attention to the user flows (sometimes we call them user stories) of the platform as it is a starting point for complex UX products.
Basically, there were two main user personas: Admin and Customer.
Admin and Customer flow differ in functionality drastically. The Admin, as the chief process manager on FlipX’s end, has access to more functions than the customer as he has more responsibilities in the business model of a startup.
From the Customer's perspective, everything should be very easy to use as their main expectations are how their investments work and at what stage their project is, etc.
Web app design
The FlipX web app is a convenient and intuitive tool for managing all the processes of a real estate renovation project. The platform is explored through a dashboard that displays all the relevant parameters: the number of projects at each stage (Valuation, Funding, Renovation, Exit), the overall stats for all projects, an overview of tasks, a widget that displays data on customers, etc.
The dashboard widgets have been chosen to provide the user with an easy way of accessing all the necessary information with no extra steps or irrelevant distractions.
The web app enables different project members to work on common objectives using a single tool.
