The word "Selasa" is derived from the Sanskrit word "soma-vasara," which means "the day of the moon".

Selasa is taken from a combination of two Semitic languages, Arabic (tsulaatsaai) and Hebrew (shlishi) which means three. Selasa is the Indonesian word for Tuesday, which is the third day of the week in the Gregorian calendar. It comes after Senin, which is Monday, and before Rabu, which is Wednesday. Simply Selasa was founded by 3 founders on Tuesday.
