The Rim of the Morning - Book cover design

Another book cover - this one of a cosmic horror duology I have been obsessing over recently - The Rim of the Morning. Sort of a Lovecraft without the monsters (H.P. being one of them), these two prewar novels are a slow burn in madness and what lurks below the surface. 

I chose the churning water as a layer underneath the eclipse for this very reasons - chaos and raw nature lies below the haunting beauty of the sky. Plus, a fun exercise in 3d manipulation.
