Branding concept for Davinci Ceramics

Da Vinci Ceramic is an artisan ceramic and tile producer that opens doors to a world in which we bring beauty and usefulness into our clients' homes and workplace spaces through their distinctive styles and designs for both interior and outdoor needs.

We are attempting to give the brand a vibe of combined European and Sri Lankan culture with a luxury feel to reach moderate to high-income earners with this brand and identity.

We came up with 3 logo design concepts

Concept 1

Honouring Da Vinci's by using his face portfolio as he is the source of inspiration for the brand. The idea behind this is to use negative space to increase the Face's impression of separation from the background and to direct the viewer's attention to it.

Concept 2

Mosaic tiles are the core of the brand, and the minimalist logo style highlights that. We intended to give the brand what it stands for with a simple pattern design that gives the face of mosaic tiles, using that as inspiration as well as the Symbolic Imagination map drawing by Da Vinci.

Concept 3

The Golden Ratio is a mathematical relationship and ratio discovered and commonly found in nature. When applied correctly, it creates designs that are organically and aesthetically pleasing to the eye by nature of their creative composition.

Nearly all of Davinci's drawings incorporate the golden ratio, which he also applied to describe his theories. We combined the same idea with elements from European architecture design to create a visually appealing logo.

Typography

The primary font draws its design inspiration from gothic architecture, which was popular in Europe throughout the Middle Ages. The typeface has excellent geometric qualities that help users understand the tone and feel of the entire website. The secondary font will be used for the body text and it is  readable under 20px size which is good for a mobile view too.

Colors

The colours are based on mosaic tile patterns from the fourth century, which creates a look that is overall very contrasted and bright. Space Cadet (hex code #1B244B) will be the primary colour, with three secondary colours following.
