Zotero redesign: Improving reference management UX

As a personal project, I set out to redesign the Zotero desktop app.

Zotero is a reference management software that I have been using for some time. Although its functionalities are incredible, the UI/UX made it quite daunting to learn and use.

This is one of the main screens. Besides making the overall look more minimalistic and adding a much-requested dark mode, I also created a visual "related items" panel, reworked the note-taking process a bit, and simplified the language to improve understanding and soften the learning curve.

The project required user research and usability testing with several iterations. I will publish the full case study soon.
