Scanning sensors - autonomous driving
Throwback to my fifth semester:
This Animation was a project I created in the fifth semester. Autonomous driving is the ability of a car to drive completely or partially by itself with limited or no human intervention.
The SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) levels automation systems. SAE-level-five describes fully automatic vehicles with driving systems that fulfill everything that previously carried out by a driver.
For this level the vehicle must be able to successfully implement three functions:
1. Safety (monitoring of the driving environment)
2. Connectivity (functions that improve driving style)
3. Autonomous driving (systems that autonomous driving)
The autopilot from Tesla is currently the only autonomous SAE-level-four system on the market.
The following animation shows an example how the environment can be captured when driving autonomously at SAE-level-five.
