Sunroom | Art Direction & Photography

Our sunroom was once a drab, insect filled, missed opportunity. With $500, a lot of paint, and many creative solutions, I transformed it into a welcoming and beautiful space.

Sunroom Before

At some point in our home's history, the fourth wall of windows in the sunroom was boarded up instead of being replaced. I chose to make this wall a focal point with dark blue paint, dramatic drapes, and a custom built bed swing. Instead of looking like a mistake, it now looks like an intentional design choice. I added curtains to soften the cold space and draw the eye to the end of the narrow 30 ft. room.

I also built the bed swing, transformed a tree stump into a coffee table, and styled the space with secondhand finds. This project was featured in the "I Did It" column of Better Homes & Gardens Magazine and on Today.com.
