Breaking for iOS

Here's the iOS counterpart to our new app Breaking that we just launched today. Breaking is a new app from Robocat that lets you add news feeds to your today view on OS X Yosemite & iOS 8.

I struggled with the iOS version of the app icon for a while. After having completed the Mac icon (see rebounded shot) I had a hard time translating the concept to something that would work well on mobile. The newspaper easily got muddy in the smaller sizes. So I ended up removing details until it finally stood out on the homescreen (and in the notification center where you'll mostly interact with it).
