Capital Turnaround: History Wall Graphics
The Capital Turnaround is a state-of-the-art live performance venue and community center spanning the city block of M & 7th ST in Washington, DC.
Before it's renovation, for nearly a century, this Navy Yard Car Barn served as the last stop on the Red Line– repairing and rerouting streetcars across the nation’s capital. Our job was to create a timeline across it's hall that showcased the building's history from birth to revival.
Turning history into interactive graphics
Spending an extensive time researching the building through the National Archive, historical photos and artifacts were paired with museum plaques to tell the story of the Capital Turnaround.
Graphic mockups were created to visualize the final concept with detailed dimensions and silhouette stand-ins. A metal ribbon would run across the hall from era to era, telling the story of the old Navy Yard Car Barn.
