Reverb 3000+MAX

After seeing a freelance opportunity to design a reverb VST (a virtual version of an analog music instrument/effect) I felt like that the Valhalla VST needed a redesign so this is my take on the Valhalla Vintage Verb.

Being a more user centric UX designer, usability was always a more important metric for me. It's fun because I also just recently finished a music study.

Often when using a VST I'm annoyed by the plain way it was copied from it's original. Especially the knobs are limited usable. A knob may have it's advantages in the analog world but is just unintuitive in the digital world. So I replaced them with sliders.

I also added two mixing related X/Y tables. When producing music a lot of magic is happening when stuff gets automated. For those how don't know, that could be for example that the volume turns louder over time. Like a movement controlled by two keyframes in after effects.

Those tables are free to choose from all available reverb settings. Well you could also do this in an other way, f.e in Ableton with a rack. But it's way more intuitive to control it in the reverb VST straight away. Especially if you can control two metrics in one automation.

Lastly I added some visual stuff like the gradient/liquid background. For me music making is always about mood. So a plugin has to have that spirit for me.

What du you think VST lovers out there?
