ATB Mural
I was chosen to be a part of the Alberta Treasury Branch’s “Iconic Alberta” series, wherein banks across the Province installed giant murals in their branches made by local artists.
The sketch idea my client liked best was entitled "Big things are happening in Alberta". I depicted the many roadside attractions in Alberta including the giant T-Rex in Drumheller, the replica Enterprise in Vulcan and the world's largest beaver in Beaverlodge. There are countless sculptures like this dotting the province and I love the idea of these giant things as a symbol of Albertans thinking big.
I liked the idea of people being able to interact with the mural, and point out which of the landmarks they had been to, hopefully evoking fond memories of road trips with loved ones.
I used an isometric style and a minimal color palette based on ATB's brand colors.
In the end, the client was thrilled with how it turned out and I was proud when it was installed in the Grand Prairie branch. Apparently the staff enjoys it as well! Some of my favorite artists were a part of this project, so it was an honor to contribute to this initiative.
