In 2012, friends and New Yorkers Amanda Slavin and Robert Fowler were motivated by the simple yet powerful mission of engagement (which Amanda had also written her thesis on while getting her masters at The University of Connecticut).

They were both passionate about creating shared moments and movements that inspired people from different walks of life to connect with one another, and after being urged on by their friend, mentor and former Zappos CEO Tony Hsieh to formalize their approach, CatalystCreativ was born.
