Social Norms Project

I made this project to showcase the unfairness of dress code within schools concerning gender, since it was a hot topic at the time it was made, and I'm also a person who deals with the matter directly. There is a blue tint over the whole work because I wanted to play with the opposite idea of rose-tinted glasses, which represents an optimistic view. I choose blue because the color is usually seen as a male color (which I use to represent patriarchy), and also associated to sadness and other emotions similar to such (which I use to represent the frustration of the girls). The cherry on top was adding a pair of blue tinted glasses on the boys head, while he prances down the hall completely relaxed in an outfit he wouldn't get dress coded for, but a girl would. The girl closest to him has a bag of her old clothes inside because she had to change due to violating dress code, and the girl in the back speaking with the lady (a teacher) is actively getting dress-coded. The posters or other messages within the Illustration just continue to point out the patriarchal standards within schools. Used Adobe Illustrator for the whole thing!
