Hanging Tree

I created this illustration for the lyrics to "The Hanging Tree" from the "Mockingjay" movie. Jennifer Lawrence has a beautiful voice and the song has been in and out of my head for weeks now, so I was inspired create something with it.

I chose to keep it simple with minimal colors because the song is originally sung a cappella. I wanted to create something that mimicked the simple beauty of the song itself. However, I also kept my illustrations very sketchy to add a bit of uneasiness to the piece as the song itself is actually about death.
