Surreal Days is a series of illustrations meant for prints(40x70cm).
All 5 of them connected by a dreamy surreal theme, color palette, and repetitive elements.
I. This first one was inspired by Sabiñanigo, Spain. A place I used to live in when I made these illustrations. The view from my street led to these beautiful mountains hiding behind the buildings. This was the first idea I had, and is the top right part. Two green buildings, the street and the trees uphill, and the mountains hiding behind. From there I used other things in the city that reminded me of certain places like bars, restaurants, etc.
II. Following everything I established on the previous one, I wanted to take a bit more liberty in this one. A flat forest like scene, and a cypress tree inspired by Van Gogh hiding behind a portal.
III. This one is inspired by a place I've drawn countless times and I'm always attracted to. Cabo Polonio - Uruguay.
A remote village with no electricity that can only be accessed by foot or 4x4. All sand and sea, illuminated at night by the moon and the stars.
IV. This one is inspired by Giorgio de Chirico. A surreal Italian painter. The main frame in this one is born from one of his paintings, and a common theme in a lot of them. I thought it fit perfectly with this theme and the emptiness he conveyed.
V. To close it out I wanted to go back to creating a scene without any particular inspiration. The general theme allowed me to combine these different scenes.
