Case study on food waste management

We completed our research during our pre-sprint, with refined research, we could define the features we want in the app. During our research, we realized that we will not get enough responses in the given time frame from restaurants on our Quantitative research form so we decided to focus that on common people and Interview restaurants, fruit stalls, Fast food corners, etc, by visiting them. Most of them did not know that industries will buy this waste from them. We realized that our audience had 2 options i.e. to compost waste on their own or send it to the industries. We found a huge gap here. Industries only take waste from places that generate lots of waste daily, with a steady supply (and they have to pay!), whereas people are unaware of the waste they throw is a potential resource (instead it goes to a landfill). This waste from landfills contributes to global warming because of Methane emission. Hence our solution, a mobile app called Back to Earth, bridges this gap.
