Daily XR • 01 Waking up
Almost a month back, Bhai shared how he strongly felt that #XR & #metaverse is the inevitable future of our industry. It made a lot of sense to everyone listening. We jammed on ideas and possibilities for hours. My brain that day couldn't stop visualizing what our everyday product interactions would be like in the future.
Three days later, #Facebook announced the metaverse launch & my bubble popped. Of course, I assumed this future to be way more distant than it was. Nevertheless, I was mesmerized by the ideas, applications, possibilities, visuals, and every possible aspect.
The following week went in long & exciting discussions around this with shivi, varenya, Malik. Everyone in the living room throwing, absorbing, & countering crazy ideas over green tea.
Few fundamental realizations that stuck by:
• Products exist as apps and websites because phones and computers have become accessible to everyone.
• #productdesign is way too new & volatile to be governed by laws; nothing is set in stone.
Designers who are too rigid to see the world beyond the 375x812 & other aspect ratio canvases will get irrelevant once XR glasses and lenses take over the market.
• Synergies will exist between devices that will enable XR and render information & products that will hold the information to be rendered. XR eyewear - smart plant pot
• Just like there are OS & device differences between apple iOS & different Android devices and how they render the same app, something similar will exist in the XR enabling devices as well. #MI, #Apple, #Google, #meta, #snapchat, #samsung XR glasses will all have a different experience.
• Innovations around XR & metaverse are ramping up at an incredible pace, faster than we realize.
I was overwhelmed with all of these thoughts, information & discussions. So finally, I came up with an idea to visualize and create a series of videos around my daily life in XR. It's just my way of expressing & putting all these ideas out there. So here's the first one.
