7 Patterns - "Open in New" Arrow

The "Open in New" or as I like to call it the "Out Arrow" was a pattern I came up with at SoundHound. As an app that identifies music and shows many cards of results, there needed to be differentiation between cards which took you deeper into the app and cards which took you out of the app. The right-pointing chevron/arrow was out of the question because it was already used heavily to denote deeper into the app. I came up with a 45* arrow to consistently denote material objects which were external links. The inspiration for it pointing at a right angle was based on the graphic design rule of the ideal logo/icon escape for the eye being the same
